The Curtains Rise in Cinema Theatres Once Again

After months of imposed exile, cinema houses have opened their doors to us again. While movie buffs embraced the option of streaming their choice of movie at will, lounging at home in their most worn-out pyjamas, the ability to watch movies in cinemas has been a true Christmas miracle!

Convenience and economics aside, nothing can come close to the experience of movie theatres. It’s not even about the movie you go to watch – it’s about the wait to be allowed entry, the smell of fresh popcorn, groping your way through the dark, and laughing, crying, and jeering with all those around you.

Cinema Operations in Covid Times

While theatres heave a sigh of relief at being able to resume screening movies, they have all been particularly stringent in following cinema safety guidelines and protocol. On our part, we also have to ensure we do what’s needed to keep ourselves safe. Here are some tips:

  • While cinema theatres have sanitizers available in lines with COVID-19 safety guidelines, ensure you carry your own.

  • Ensure you make contactless purchases when buying refreshments before and during the show.

  • Check that you have the Arogya Setu app installed on your phone before you reach the cinema theatre. You’re not going to be let in without it.

  • Adjacent seats are meant to be left vacant. It may be a dampener for all the couples looking for a chance to hold hands during a romantic film, but that’s what the rules dictate. Look on the bright side, there’s much more room to spread out your drink and snacks now!

  • Wear your masks while entering, during the break, and while using all public spaces beyond your seat. It may be a little bit suffocating, but it’s only in your best interest.

It’s always a good idea to get a head start – book your tickets well in advance, beat the crowds, and enjoy a little space and me-time while you make the most of stereo sound and a larger-than-life experience.

Movies that changed the world

At times, cinema can be both a mirror to the society and a thought-provoking tool. These are some movies which changed the way society thinks drastically. A Girl in the River Directed by Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, this movie depicted the reality of today’s world and how honour killing is a severe issue in the society of Pakistan. This movie led the Pakistani government to review its laws regarding honour killing. Blackfish This documentary showed how the Orcas are kept in harsh captivity and how it is harmful to their habitat, and this brought a massive change of the Shamu attractions being completely shut down by SeaWorld. The Day After Tomorrow This blockbuster movie had such an accurate description of climate change that it left an impactful print in the minds of governments worldwide which made them work towards climate change countermeasures. Cathy Come Home Director Ken Loach brought the issue of homelessness in the spotlight, which was not acknowledg...

Jayeshbhai Jordaar film Review: Ranveer Singh goes clearly in an ungainly mashup of different issues

Just before Jayeshbhai acquaints his relatives with us, he draws a somewhat senseless relationship between researchers needing to be aware of Mars and his folks needing to be aware of the orientation of his kid. What's normal between a planet a lady's womb? Indeed, they're both round (gol) in shape. Some Gujju humor to fix the tone and assumptions. Chief Divyang Thakkar gives the disclaimer in the primary scene itself that 'pre-natal sex assurance test is a culpable offense'. Furthermore, the whole reason of   Jayeshbhai Jordaar   is revolved around this. At times a star sparkles most splendid in a characterless film. Ranveer Singh is jordaar and all the more yet even with all his appeal and sincere exertion Jayeshbhai Jordaar is significantly "bore-daar". Unfortunately, honest goals alone rarely make extraordinary movies! The requirement for a male successor is driving Jayeshbhai and his family insane. The pregnant bahu Mudra Ben (Shalini Pandey) is lyi...
