The 2017 Tamil movies that have impressed the audience so far

The people down south don’t just watch movies, but they celebrate movies. If a movie has enough dollops of emotion and entertainment, then it will surely set the cash register ringing. Seldom do critic verdict matters for the Tamil audience. The audience mainly prefers the word of mouth opinion. And when it comes to the movies in which their favourite stars are in the lead, then it’s mandate custom for them to watch it as many times as possible. But at the same time, it’s hard to impress the audience as they give a total thumbs down to the film which doesn’t have a reasonably good content.
Unfortunately the tamil movie reviews for 2017 till now has not impressed the audience. The major reason behind this is that the Tamil Nadu state has gone through some major setbacks. The demise of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, striking of cyclone vardah, Jallikattu agitation, all these had an adverse affect on the Tamil film industry. Because of this, most of the filmmakers had to postpone the release of their film. For instance, Singam III release date was shifted thrice before it finally released on 10th February, 2017. As there are many big films lined up for release in the second half of the year, we hope that new tamil movie review will be favourable for the industry. Let’s take a look at the tamil movie rating given by the audience for the movies released so far and see which movies have impressed them the most.
User Rating - 3.5
When the darling of the masses Ilayathalapathy Vijay is playing the lead, then the film is entitled with a label of a minimum guarantee. As expected, it was a typical masala entertainer with the same usual story. But still, the charisma of the superstar made the film worth a watch.
2) Bogan (2nd February)
User Rating - 3.7
After the massive success of Thani Oruvan, audience was waiting for Arvind Swami and Jayam Ravi combo. It was not that good when compared to Thani Oruvan but managed to hold the audience attention due to its watertight screenplay.
3) Singam III (10th February)
User Rating - 3.8
Over the years, Singam franchise has earned a loyal fan base. And for them the film delivered exactly what they wanted. Suriya fans and action movie lovers received the film wholeheartedly. The racy screenplay kept audience's eyes glued to the screen throughout.
4) Kuttram 23 (3rd March)
User Rating - 4.2
A cop is assigned to find a missing pregnant woman. During the course of the investigation, it becomes personal for the cop and how things unfold is the crux of the movie. This one was a thriller that did complete justice to its genre.
5) Kavan (31st March)
User Rating - 4.3
This was one by far the best in Vijay Sethupathi's career. The film revealed how media break all the journalism ethics to satisfy their TRP hunger. How Sethupathi and his team exposed the cunning media mogul played by Akashdeep Saigal was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

With Vanamagan releasing on Eid and followed by other big films such as Magalir Mattum, Enai Noki Paayum Thota, Dhruva Natchathiram, Velaiyilla Pattathari 2, Vivegam and Vijay’s 61, the second half of 2017 looks much more promising. Watch this space for more updates and reviews on Tamil movies.
